Sara Crisman is a New York City based dancer studying at The Ailey School in partnership with Fordham University. She is currently working toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications and Media Studies with a concentration in Media, Culture, and Society. During her time at The Ailey School, she has had the privilege of performing works by Cheryl Copeland, Adam Barruch, Virginie Mécène, and Levi Marsman.

 

Sara began her dance training in Tokyo, Japan at the age of four. At the age of 12, she shifted her focus towards classical ballet and joined the pre-professional division at Patel Conservatory with Next Generation Ballet in Tampa, FL. There, she studied with Ivonne Lemus and Melissa Stafford under the direction of Peter Stark, later becoming a trainee with Next Generation Ballet from 2011-2012. Sara went on to study at Ballet West Academy in Salt Lake City, UT under the direction of Peter Christie, before joining the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program’s class of 2019. Sara has attended prestigious intensives such as Springboard X: Iconic Women, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, The Ailey School, Ballet West, Miami City Ballet, Next Generation Ballet and the José Carreño Intensive. She recently participated in NW Dance Project’s LAUNCH 13. Upon graduation, Sara plans to join a repertory based company and ultimately combine her background in media studies with her passion for contemporary dance.
